INTRODUCTION

Hotels are amongst the most visible and important aspects of a country's infrastructure. Hotel industry is a closely linked one to the tourism industry. A number of factors like promotion of tourism and rapid industrial progress have given a boost to hoteliering. The recent liberalization of trade and opening up of economy will further lead to revolutionary growth in this sector.

With increasing globalization, career opportunities in this field are not only limited within the country but there are chains of hotels which operate internationally providing scope of a career abroad. It is a glamorous profession which has a bright future. With the growth of hotel industry propelled by foreign and domestic tourism and business travel, the demand for well trained quality personnel too has grown impressively. The diversity of experience in hotel management is greater than in any other profession. Hotel industry involves combination of various skills like management, food and beverage service, housekeeping, front office operation, sales and marketing, communication, accounting. Today, the rise in corporate activity (leading to greater number of business trips) as well as the wish to travel on holiday has made the hotel industry a very competitive one.

St. Francis Xavier Vocational Training Center is committed to develop talented men and women, through a dynamic learning environment, to enable them to lead the HOTEL INDUSTRY into the future.

Among the emerging professional courses that have attracted the youngsters in the recent years, hotel management is very prominent courses.

OUR OBJECTIVES, VISION, MISSION & CORE VALUES

The objective of St. Francis Xavier Vocational Training Center is to train the students in the Technical, Managerial and Human relations skills and Personality Development necessary for the successful operation of a modern HOTEL or CATERING establishment.

To achieve this objective, St. Francis Xavier Vocational Training Center endeavors to establish close interaction between the Institute and industry.

Invite visiting faculties to the Institute to interact with our students and share their experiences.

Send students to various categories of hotels for training.

Develop case studies dealing with actual business situation in specific units.

Take up industrial or business research and consultancy projects.

Conduct executive and faculty development programmes.

A loser, failure & hopeless personality are what the world would call me. But in the month of June `08 something happened. I met Jude Sir & things changed. I feel much more confident & know that if we make the right choice in life goes smoothly. We need to make sure that we are able to make sure that we are able to stand on our own and I am extremely grateful to both Jude Sir & Tony Sir for helping me realize that not all is lost and if we put our mind and efforts to it we can say “I M Possible”.

It gives me immense pleasure to write about my wonderful experience with St. Francis Xavier. From the first day I joined my class till now I have learnt a lot from Jude Sir. My confidence has built to the utmost. Today what I am is just because of Jude Sir. I have passed 4 papers with good marks because of Jude Sir. Because of you I can do so many things in my life. I look up to Jude Sir and thank him for all the love and support he has given me.
